Five dogs have died after eating skin cream that's used to treat and prevent skin cancer. The FDA reports Carac, Efudex, and Fluoroplex have caused dogs to vomit and have seizures. The owners rushed their pets to the veterinarian, but none of the five dogs could be saved. If you have these products in your home, please store them away from where your pets can reach. The FDA adds you should be sure you don't leave any residue on your hands, clothing, furniture, or carpets.

Regarding cats, the FDA says:

Although the FDA has not to date received any reports involving cats, they are also expected to be extremely sensitive to Fluorouracil cream. If an owner applies Fluorouracil cream to an afflicted area and touches their cat, the cat may accidentally ingest the medication when grooming itself and suffer adverse events.
