Shots Fired During Bank Robbery, Schools On Lockdown

Shots were fired this morning during a robbery at American Bank and Trust Company branch in the 2900 block of Moss St.

Reports from eyewitnesses say employees were held at gunpoint and one shot was indeed fired inside the bank.  The suspect also used an employee’s vehicle to escape the scene and was recovered a short time later.

No injuries have been reported.  Officials have placed Acadian Middle, Evangeline Elementary, J. W. Faulk Elementary and Northside High Schools on lockdown until given the all clear.

The suspect has been described as a white male between 5’5″ and was masked.
