That's the claim being made by some students and staff.

Our news partners at KATC report that a health policy requires female students to view 4, 15 - minute educational videos before receiving a gynecological exam. The videos cover a range of topics, among them, birth - control and breast health.

The cries of sexism are the result of similar policies not being applied to male students before check - ups.

Student journalist Nadia Khansa brought the issue to light through an op - ed written in the Vermilion, UL's student newspaper. Khansa told KATC 'the format of the videos is very heteronormative, abstinence-only, the kind of thing you would expect for medical videos of the 90s. And when you consider that they're only giving those videos to women, it's almost like they're kind of placing the burden of safe sex on women instead of men.'
