KTDY and the American Red Cross encourage families in Acadiana to share their gratitude to our veterans and active-duty members of the Armed Forces. Here's how:

Whether printed, handmade or store-bought, these cards carry meaning for the recipients and the senders.

Children and adults across our region have supported the campaign by signing heart-felt messages, and some have even designed their own cards.

During the past five years, the American Red Cross and Pitney Bowes have received more than 3.5 million messages of thanks and holiday wishes to our service men and women, veterans and their families. Pitney Bowes lends its support by overseeing the sorting and delivery of millions of cards to military locations around the world.

All holiday greetings should be addressed and sent to:

Holiday Mail for Heroes P.O. Box 5456 Capitol Heights, MD 20791-5456

Cards must be postmarked no later than Dec. 9; cards received after this date will be returned to senders. For reasons of processing and safety, participants are asked to refrain from sending 'care packages,' monetary gifts, using glitter or including any inserts with the cards.

Thank you!
