UPDATE: Louisiana State Police is reporting that both Roland Williams and his 3-year-old grandson have been found, and they are safe.

State Police is reporting that just before 6 o'clock this morning a trooper from the Baton Rouge saw Williams' car at a convenience store on Satsuma Road in Livingston Parish.

When the trooper found the car empty, he went into the store and found both the grandfather and child in the restroom area.

While the trooper was working to make sure of the identify of the two, he gave them food and water. They were checked out by Acadian Ambulance and were released to their family members.

Colonel Mike Edmonson, State Police Superintendent had this to say,

"Far too often law enforcement and other public safety agencies are called to respond to tragic events. However, in this darkness, we never stop searching for the light of hope. The successful recovery of this young child and his grandfather are our beacon today. Working together with our public safety partners for positive resolutions are why we do what we do."
