Saints coach Sean Payton has a new gig!  He's moonlighting as Ryan Palmer's caddie this week at the Greenbrier Classic.

Coach Payton said he had planned to spend a week of R & R at the Greenbrier resort in West Virginia.

Payton and Palmer befriended one another in Dallas. They get together when Palmer plays in the Zurich Classic in Louisiana, and have played a few rounds together. Palmer, gave his regular caddie the week off, and Payton agreed to help.

Palmer said, "It's pretty cool to hear the mindset of one of the great coaches in the game, Super Bowl-winning coach".

Payton said Wednesday, after two days of practice rounds and pro-am events, he realized "this isn't a vacation."

Payton said he isn't a good golfer, but he's comfortable figuring out yardage. The Greenbrier Classic takes place Thursday 7/4 through Sunday 7/7/13.

The Super Bowl winning coach compares being a caddie to visualizing an NFL game through a quarterback's eyes. He says he's taking the opportunity seriously. Payton said, "I know what game week feels like for me in the fall, and I know what it will feel like for him and what it does feel like for all these golfers. Just to be invisible as a caddie and do your job and be supportive, those are the things that I look at as being important for me this week."

Palmer jokingly added: "Just shut up and keep up. That's it."

If Sean Payton caddies as well as he coaches, Ryan Palmer should have a good weekend.
