We are in the thick of the holidays here in Acadiana.

Some great Christmas events have already taken place but there are still a ton of wonderful happenings coming up throughout the area.

Below is a list of Acadiana parades, tree lightings, and more for the rest of the 2018 Christmas season.

 

ACADIA PARISH

Crowley Christmas Parade - Dec 4, 6pm. Historic Downtown, Parkerson Ave.

Christmas in Crowley - Dec 5, 6pm-8pm. Historic Downtown, Parkerson Ave. Free. Over 200,000 animated holiday lights synchronized to music. Tune your radio to 93.3 FM and listen to the lights.

LAFAYETTE PARISH

Festival of Light - Nov 30, 5pm-9pm. Oil Center in Lafayette. Free. Celebrate with the lighting of the colossal Santa, sleigh and reindeer. Enjoy music, food, fun, and shopping. Santa will be on hand to take pictures. Behold the living Nativity and enjoy and outdoor snow yard. TheOilCenter.com

Carencro Country Christmas - Dec 1, 9am-3pm. Carencro Community Center, 5115 N. University Ave. Free. Choirs, singers, arts & crafts, food booths and at 10am, pictures with Santa. And on Nov. 30 from 6pm-9pm, enjoy the lighting of the Christmas tree at City Hall with caroling, cookies and hot chocolate.

Sonic Christmas Parade - Dec 2, 1pm. Downtown Lafayette to the Oil Center. Free. 20 floats, marching bands and the official arrival of Santa Claus to Lafayette.

Safari of Lights - Nov 30, Dec 7-30, 5pm-9pm. Zoosiana in Broussard. 3 years old and above $7. Stroll the zoo at night as Christmas music fills the air. View still and animated lighted animal figurines. North Pole Express Train ride, hot cocoa or hot cappuccino. Zoosiana.com

Christmas in Scott - Dec 5, 5pm-8pm. La Maison de Begnaud St. Aubin Park in Scott. Farmer's Market, official lighting of the Christmas tree and a visit/photo op with Santa Claus. CityOfScott.org

Living Bethlehem - Dec 7-9, 7pm-8pm. Sugar Mill Pond in Youngsville. Free. Live nativity drama, features a cast of children, live animals and a children's choir. SugarMillPond.com

City of Broussard Christmas Parade - Dec 9, 1pm. Free. Begins at intersection of S. Morgan down Alberston Pkwy.

Lessons and Carols - Dec 9, 7:30pm. St. John Cathedral, 914 St. John Street, Lafayette. Free. Traditional candlelight service of readings and choral music. SaintJohnCathedral.org

Old-Time Christmas at Vermilionville - Dec 12-23, 10am-4pm. 300 Fisher Rd in Lafayette. $10 adults, $8 seniors, $6 students & 6 and under free. Meet Papa Noël, learn how to make wax candles, sing along to Christmas carols, watch popcorn stringing and even get a taste of apple cider! Vermilionville.org

Noël Acadien Au Village - Nov 30 - Dec 23, 5:30pm-9pm. Acadian Village in Lafayette. $10 at the gate. $8 in advance. Half a million lights, displays, food, entertainment and holiday shopping. AcadianVillage.org

Christmas at the Alexandre Mouton House - Dec 1-31, Tue-Sat, 10am-4pm. 1122 Lafayette St. in Lafayette. $5 Adults, $3 Seniors, $2 Students. The Alexandre Mouton House will be decorated for Christmas with period decorations.

ST. LANDRY PARISH

Annual Lighting of the Village - Dec 7, 5pm-8:30pm. 828 E. Landry St. in Opelousas. Free. Children's activities, Christmas carols and a visit from Papa Noël.

Christmas Choir Concert - Dec 7. St. John's Episcopal Church, 308 Church St., Washington. Christmas cheer from one of the few early music ensembles in Louisiana, the Baton Rouge Early Vocal Ensemble.

Eunice Community Concert Band & Choir Christmas Performance - Dec 13-14, 7pm. Liberty Center for the Performing Arts, 200 Park Ave., Eunice. ECCBC.org

Opelousas Children's Christmas Parade - Dec 13, 6pm. Free. Christmas themed floats, marching bands, costumed characters and, of course, Santa Claus! The parade begins at St. Landry Catholic Church on Union and Main Street, rolls through downtown Opelousas and ends on Creswell Lane.

ST. MARTIN PARISH

St. Martin de Tours Lighting of the Square - Dec 9. St. Martin de Tours Church Square in St. Martinville. Free. StMartinville.org
