Ever heard of David Onyemata? Didn't think so. The Saints shocked everybody by trading up into the 4th Round to select the Canadian defensive tackle out of nowhere.

Onyemata (6'3"-300 lbs) is a raw talent out of Manitoba University in Canada. Five years ago in Manitoba, he "showed up without a clue about the sport" of football. Last season, he was named the best defensive lineman in Canadian collegiate athletics, collecting five sacks, 7.5 tackles for loss and 50 tackles, while constantly being double-teamed. He has major upside, but he's raw.

CBS Sports' draft analysts say the big Nigerian displays "surprising initial quickness and flexibility." They also say he "flashes an exciting combination of agility, technique and explosiveness."

The Saints traded this year's 5th Round pick (152nd overall) and next year's 5th Round pick to the Redskins to get back into the 4th Round. They used the 120th overall pick on a project, with a known guy like Baylor DT Andrew Billings still available at the time. They fell in love with Onyemata, and they made sure they got their man.

He impressed scouts at the East-West Shrine Game, and if you watch him in this highlight tape, you'll see a lot to like. Keep your eyes on #97. It's not hard to find him.

Sure, the competition level at Manitoba wasn't great, but he destroyed double-teams on a regular basis and showed tenacity in pursuit. This is a developmental pick for the Saints, and the ceiling is awfully high.

In terms of sheer strength, Onyemata falls in the category of "jaw-dropping." He cranked out 33 bench reps at his Pro-Day. For perspective, only one guy invited to the NFL Combine (Arizona State OG Christian Westerman) beat that mark, and he only had one more rep (34).

Watch him make 225 pounds look like nothing.

He still wasn't done benching at the end of the video...

When you take into consideration that the Saints only gave up one pick in 2016 to get him, it makes you care less about the 5th Rounder they gave up in next year's draft. By next year, Onyemata could grow into a monster and actually contribute.

Onyemata joins 1st Round Pick Sheldon Rankins on a defensive line that desperately needs help. Onyemata will have to cut his teeth on special teams, but if his technical skills catch up with his superhuman strength, the Saints could have a serious sleeper pick on their hands.
