Saints running back Pierre Thomas has been named the Saints' Man of the Year and Nominated for the prestigious Walter Payton Man of the Year Award. He's been a consistent performer on and off the field since signing as an undrafted free agent in 2007.
Thomas supports teammate's foundation events in addition to those for his own iCan Foundation. He can be found visiting schools & hospitals, as well as toy and food drives. Thomas founded iCan to help the fight against childhood obesity, and its related health problems.
On the field, Thomas has played in 90 games for the black & gold, scoring 37 touchdowns, averaging 4.6 yards per carry and 8 yards per reception.
The Walter Payton Man of the Year Award is annually recognizes an NFL player for his outstanding contributions to his community. It's named for the late Chicago Bears running who was was its first recipient in 1977. The award was named for Payton after his death in 1999.
