After a disappointing 2014 season, Saints head coach Sean Payton promised a thorough reevaluation, starting with the coaches. The first heads to roll were those of wide receivers coach Henry Ellard, tight ends coach Terry Malone, and assistant secondary coach Andre Curtis. They hired Ragin' Cajuns defensive coordinator James Willis, and former Raiders head coach Dennis Allen as defensive assistants. With free agency days away, and the black & gold more than 20 million over the cap, roster moves have begun. Nfl.com's Ian Rappaport reports, running back Pierre Thomas has been released, and they're shopping a trade for veteran linebacker Curtis Lofton. Thomas' release doesn't come as a big surprise. It was widely speculated Thomas would be released prior to last season. Shopping Lofton caught me by surprise. He's never missed a game, and had 144 tackles in 2014, anchoring a less than stellar linebacking corps. His cap hit for 2015. is about 9 million. I get a feeling more surprises are coming.
