Russian Cargo Plane Lands At New Iberia Airport

Did anyone else see the huge plane that flew over Acadiana yesterday?

I was driving near Parks when I first saw the plane, and it appeared to be a C-5 Galaxy, and American military cargo plane.  I posted the question on Facebook, and I was soon corrected: it is an IL 76, a Russian cargo plane!

Marcel Jeanfreau, an Air Force veteran, drove out to New Iberia from Abbeville to get a close-up look at the plane.

"It's definitely an Ilyushin Il-76, a Russian-made cargo plane.  Flightaware.com lists it as leaving Bangor, Maine and flying to New Iberia, Louisiana to pick up some equipment". - Marcel Jeanfreau

Johnny Meaux was at work when he saw the plane.

It landed in New Iberia , it was at less than 1000 ft when it passed over us at Courtesy. - Johnny Meaux

According to KATC TV3's website, the plane picked up some survey equipment and is bound for Singapore.
