One of the first family names in Cajun Food, Richard's Cajun Foods, has announced plans to expand their operations in Acadia Parish. The new expansion proposed for a location near Church Point will reportedly bring a total of 28 new jobs to the area.

Richard's Cajun Foods President Ronnie Doucet made the announcement yesterday alongside Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards. The proposed expansion will bring a 28,000 square foot facility to the Church Point location. There are also plans to renovate a smaller facility already at the location. The new facility will house production and administrative offices for the company.

Richard's Cajun Foods was born in the kitchen of company founder Lonnie Richard's Grandmother. Richard used his Grandmother's recipes and techniques to develop the many Cajun food products that now grace the shelves of stores across the nation.

Richard's Cajun Foods is part of Tall Tree Foods Inc based out of Milwaukee Wisconsin. Tall Tree Foods acquired Richard's in 2013. The construction of the new facility in Church Point is expected to begin as early as January of 2019. Officials with the company hope to begin the hiring process for the newly created positions at the company shortly thereafter.
