26-year-old Richard Arceneaux of Lafayette is now behind bars after allegedly holding his girlfriend captive at their home on the 100 block of Hansel Drive on Monday around 2:40 p.m.

LPD Spokesperson Corporal Paul Mouton says the victim told them Arceneaux allegedly held her inside of their home at gunpoint and refused to allow her to leave. Arceneaux is also accused of choking his girlfriend until she went unconscious and allegedly threatened her life with a firearm.

Cpl. Mouton says Arceneaux turned himself into law enforcement in Patterson about 3:00 a.m. Tuesday. He's been charged with Aggravated Assault with a Firearm, False Imprisonment and Second Degree Battery. Police continue to investigate.
