A number of restaurants throughout the US offered free meals and other signs of appreciation to both active and veteran military on Veteran's Day. Among those restaurant's was Chili's Bar & Grill, though the location in Cedar Hell, Texas is now under fire for its treatment of a veteran.

The Star - Telegram reports that Army veteran Ernest Walker was approached by an elderly man allegedly wearing a Trump t - shirt while awaiting his free takeout meal. The elderly man questioned Walker's actual status as a veteran, while another customer questioned if Walker's support dog was legitimate. The elderly customer spoke with the restaurant's manager, Wesley Patrick, who then approached Walker and told him there was doubt as to his veteran status. Despite proving his status with discharge papers and military ID, Walker's meal was taken from him. Walker filmed a portion of his exchange with Patrick.

Walker was wearing a uniform without a name tag or rank insignia, which he told reporters he purchased to wear on Veteran's Day without appearing to be in active service. Walker and his attorney have approached Chili's parent company, Brinker International, to address the situation.
