After taking a hit in his shoulder during the second quarter, New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees did not look comfortable throwing the ball in Sunday's loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday.

He admitted after the game that shoulder soreness affected some of his deeper throws.

The shoulder injury could linger, as NFL Network reporter Ian Rapoport is reporting through sources that Brees could potentially miss several games due to the injury.

On a positive note, the injury is not a season ender. According to ESPN NFL Insider Ed Werder, Brees underwent an MRI and the injury isn't serious.

However, the Saints will determine Brees' status for next Sunday's road game against the Carolina Panthers by how well his injury responds to treatment this week.

Brees' primary backup is currently veteran Luke McCown.
