A new year, a new list.

The folks at 24/7 Wall St. have taken a closer at nearly 20,000 villages, towns and cities across all 50 states to determine the best one in each state.

They used a range of factors to come up with their list to proclaim these cities desirable to live in. Things like: safe streets, a strong economy, affordability and a range of entertainment options.

All told, there were over two dozen measures used to identify the best city to live in each state.

And in the great state of Louisiana, the top dog turned out to be Youngsville!

For starters, here are some of the stats on the Lafayette Parish town:

• Population: 10,878
• 5 yr. population change: +41.5 percent
• Median home value: $222,300
• Median household income: $94,564

The median household income was a big plus, considering that the typical Louisiana household earns less than $46,000 per year. And a dollar goes typically further in Youngsville, as goods and services are about 7 percent less here than they are on average nationwide.

That big ole 70-acre, multimillion dollar sports complex completed in 2014 was also a big positive listed. The Youngsville Sports Complex has 10 tennis courts, six soccer fields, five baseball fields, batting cages, a fishing pond, a one-mile walking path, and a playground.
