Outgoing Representative Simone Champagne's position as vice chairman of the Appropriations committee will be filled by a Republican representative from Gretna.

Rep. Bryan Adams announces he will fill her vacancy of that position in the state House of Representatives. Adams has served in the House of Representatives since 2011 and represents Jefferson Parish, specifically the areas of Gretna and Terrytown.

In addition to his seat on the Appropriations Committee, he also serves on the Administration of Criminal Justice, Judiciary Committee, Joint Legislative Committee on the Budget, House Select Committee on Homeland Security, and the Joint Committee on Homeland Security.

Champagne announced her resignation in December of 2014. House Speaker Chuck Kleckley has set a Feb. 21 election date to fill Champagne’s seat, with a March 28 runoff if needed.
