The New England Patriots have been caught cheating before, and are under investigation again. The Pats were disciplined by the NFL for illegally videotaping the New York Jets' hand signals in 2007. The affair came to be known as "Spygate." Head coach Bill Belichik was fined $500,000. The team was fined $250,000, and stripped of its first round draft pick in the 2008 draft.

NBC affiliate WTHR reports, an "NFL source" revealed to reporter Bob Kravitz the Patriots are being investigated for allegedly deflating footballs used in Sunday's AFC championship game against the Indianapolis Colts.

A softer ball is reportedly easier to throw in cold weather.

New York Newsday columnist Bob Glauber tweeted on Monday, an NFL spokesman had confirmed the matter is being looked into by the league. If the investigation uncovers wrongdoing, there will likely be fines, and the forfeiture of draft picks.
