Irwin Allen was the king of 1960's Sci-fi TV. "Lost in Space" and "Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea" were his creations. America's collective imagination, including mine, was captured by the concept of space travel as we watched Redstone & Saturn rockets blast men into orbit. Then, President John F. Kennedy set a goal of landing a man on the moon! Allen's aptly timed creation depicted a family setting out on a journey searching for other habitable worlds. As we all know, the Robinson family found themselves stranded light years from home. Their ship, the Jupiter 2, has been the most popular attraction at multiple sci-fi conventions. the show had just the right combination of danger, drama & camp to appeal to a wide audience. I remake of the series is on the way, according to cnet.com. Netflix has reportedly ordered 10 1 hour episodes from Legendary TV. The new series is set for a 2018 premiere.
