Rayne Man Killed In Early Saturday Morning Crash

A Rayne man is dead after a single-vehicle crash that occurred near Crowley early Saturday morning.

According to Acadia Parish Sheriff Wayne Melancon, 24-year-old Brock James Simon was killed when he was ejected from a vehicle driven by Lance Wagner. Investigators determined Wagner's vehicle was traveling west on Standard Mill Road when it went off the road striking a ditch and landing on a parked car in a private driveway on East Park Drive.

Both Simon and Wagner were transported to Acadia General Hospital. Simon was pronounced dead but Wagner's condition was not reported.

Melancon said that charges against the driver are expected, pending the results of toxicology reports.
