Jane Fonda was scheduled to appear on the shopping network QVC to promote her new book on aging.

AP reports, the appearance was cancelled on short notice, and  the 73 year-old Oscar winner says the cancellation was due to pressure over her controversial past. Fonda was an ouspoken opponent of American involvement in Vietnam, and made a highly publicised visit to the North Vietnamese capital. That visit earned Fonda the nickname "Hanoi Jane" and embroiled her in controvery for years. The network denies any connection between the

cancellation and Fonda's Politics.  "It's not unusual to have a schedule change with our shows and guests with little or no notice."     -QVC Spokesman Paul Cappelli
