Public Encouraged To Honor Fallen Deputy
A group of citizens encouraging everyone to attend a silent tribute to Vermilion Parish Sheriff Deputy Allen Bares, Jr., who was gunned down on Monday, June 23rd.
Anyone who would like to attend the silent tribute are asked to arrive at the Louisiana Military Museum (911Industrial Park Loop, Abbeville, 70510) near the Abbeville Airport by 2pm on Friday, June 27th. There we will give instructions as to where to park and the code of conduct for the tribute. We will line the sides of Highway 14 By-Pass and await the funeral procession in a show of honor for Deputy Bares.
You are encouraged to bring an American Flag with you, and also encouraged to bring your family. We need to make certain that our children know how important and noble it is to protect citizens from people with ill intent.
Please make plans to join us tomorrow. Ask your boss if you can take a “late lunch”, and invite him/her to join you. We must show the world that Louisiana is more than just a bunch of thugs. We must show that, as citizens, we will not stand for this kind of behavior. We must show Deputy Allen Bares’ family that we appreciate their sacrifice, and we must show his fellow law enforcement officials that we not only support them, but that we appreciate what they do for us day in and day out, and that we mourn their loss with them.
