The new school year is about three weeks away. Families all over Acadiana will be buying uniforms and other school supplies. Public health officials are reminding parents not to overlook their child's immunizations. KATC reports, proof of vaccinations are required by Louisiana law.


DHH Secretary Kathy Kliebert said, "Other parts of the country have seen a resurgence of measles, including Houston, which had a large outbreak last year. These vaccinations protect our children from these terrible diseases. Getting vaccinated is a simple process with big rewards. These vaccines help keep children healthy, so they can spend more days in the classroom learning and out of the doctor's office."
