At approximately 4:00am today Louisiana State Police Troop I investigated a pedestrian fatality on US 190 east of Port Barre.

According to investigating Troopers 24-year-old Josh Arnaud of Port Barre was standing in the outside lane of US 190 next to his car which was parked on the shoulder.  Troopers say Arnaud's vehicle had run out of gas and he was standing partially in the road while talking to passengers in the vehicle.  Arnaud was struck by a car driven by 56 year old Elliott Lazard of Port Barre.  Arnaud was pronounced dead at the scene by the St. Landry Parish Coroner.

It's unknown if Arnaud was impaired but toxicology samples were obtained and the crash remains under investigation.
