Pictures And Update Of 2014 Cajun Field Upgrades
Louisiana’s Ragin’ Cajun football team will open up their season in 32 days when they host the Southern Jaguars.
Coming off a 9-4, Sun Belt Conference championship season, along with their 3rd straight New Orleans Bowl championship, the 2014 campaign is one of the most anticipated in school history.
“I expect us to set a new attendance record this season,” said athletic director Scott Farmer.
When asked what he expected the attendance to be, Farmer didn’t shy away from an answer.
“Let’s go with a 30,000 average for all six home games.”
With high attendance expectations, the Cajuns are expecting an even bigger number for the season opener versus the Jaguars.
“I’m expecting around 42,000 in attendance for our matchup with Southern,” said John Dugas, Associate Athletics Director of Internal Operations. “The good news is we’ll be ready for them with all the new renovations.”
Tier 1a of the athletic department’s master plan includes upgrades to the South End Zone, as well as midfield seats, a new 30 by 54 foot high definition video board, mobile ticketing, increased cell service, and upgrades to RV tailgating. The following photos reveal the plans for Tier 1 expansion, as well as pictures of the current progress.
“We expect to have all South End zone renovations done by August 22nd,” said Dugas.
One more interesting tidbit is plans to build a bell tower between the two buildings in the South End Zone. Dugas noted that it (bell tower) won’t be ready for the start of the season, as it wasn’t part of the original master plan. However, he does foresee it being ready to ring at some point this football season.

A view of the new video board. Once complete, the top of the video board will read “Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns”. It will operate in HD, and is roughly 3 times the size of the previous video board.

The victory bell would be positioned directly between the two buildings above the stands in the photos posted above and below.

Do you really need to see the progress on the restrooms in the South End Zone area? Most of you would say no, but for the few that requested it, here you go.
In a little over a month, the South End Zone will be fully operational.
Louisiana kick off versus Southern on August 30th is set for 6:00. Pre-game on the Ragin’ Cajun radio network will begin at 4:00.
