Photo of Fallen Vietnam War Hero from Acadiana Sought
It is often said about soldiers who have lost their lives protecting our freedom that it is a "debt we can never repay."
But it is the belief of many that we can certainly do everything we can to honor their memories.
I got an email earlier this week from a nice lady named Janna Hoehn who is a volunteer for the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington DC. A new museum is being built adjacent to the Vietnam Wall on the National Mall.
They are currently searching for photos of each and every Fallen Hero who died in the Vietnam War. Every one of the 58,315 will get their photo on the "Wall of Faces" online memorial as well in the future Education Center that will be adjacent to the Vietnam Wall in Washington DC.
One of those photos they are still in search for is a man from Iberia Parish. His name is Sylvester Wright Jr. and he is believed to have attended Jeanerette High School.
The hope is that a family member, classmate or a friend might have a photo of him. Even a yearbook photo will work.
If you have any photos or information on Sylvester Wright Jr., please submit via email to Janna Hoehn at firstname.lastname@example.org.
And there are still over 5,000 photos that have not been collected yet. There are likely more from the Acadiana area.
So if you'd like more information on this project, go to www.vvmf.org/thewall.
