Five years ago, Joao Pereira de Souza came across a penguin that was near death on the Brazilian coast. He was covered in oil, and starving to death. The retired bricklayer took the penguin home, fed him and spent almost a week cleaning off the thick coating of oil. De Souza named him Dindim, and cared for the bird 'til he was well enough to return to the wild. De Souza didn't realize he'd made a friend for life. Several months later, the penguin returned. It's estimated Dindim travels thousands of miles every year, migrating back & forth between breeding on the Argentine coast, and returning to Brazil to visit his friend...
