Troop I spokesman Trooper Stephen Hammons says 28-year-old Jerome Woodley of Opelousas was struck and killed on the I-49 Frontage Road near Roxanne Road in Sunset at approximately 6:15 a.m. Sunday.

Hammons said Woodley, a pedestrian at the time of the crash, was wearing dark colored clothing and walking with the flow of traffic.  Woodley was apparently walking in the south bound traffic lane when struck from the rear by a car driven by 59-year-old Guilliam Leger of Opelousas.  Leger was not injured in the crash.

It's not known if the victim was impaired but toxicology samples were taken.  The accident remains under investigation and no charges have been filed.

Trooper Hammons reminds pedestrians they should wear light colored clothing and walk against the flow of traffic.
