The Consumer Product Safety Commission says 20,000 ice cream scoops are being recalled after reports of injuries to consumers. The Pampered Chef sold the scoops for $15 between July and September of 2010.

The agency says the cap and seal at the end of the scoop can come off with "substantial force" when the utensil is exposed to warm water. Consumers are being told not to use the scoops and to get in touch with Pampered Chef for instructions about refunds or replacements. For additional information, contact The Pampered Chef toll-free at (877) 917-2433 between 7 a.m. and 11 p.m. CT Monday through Friday and between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. CT on Saturday or visit the firm’s website at http://www.pamperedchef.com/recall/cust info collection.jsp.
