A teen from Palmetto has been arrested after authorities say she wrote a bomb threat on a bathroom wall at North Central High School.

St. Landry Parish Sheriff's Office spokesperson Maj. Eddie Thibodeaux said on Nov. 11, 17-year-old Kashley Sonnier wrote "Bomb in bathroom will go off 11/11/17 at 10:40."

Once the threat was reported, the school was evacuated and put on lockdown for nearly 3 hours.

Sonnier--and other students--were transported  to the sheriff's office for questioning. That's when Sonnier admitted to writing the threat. The other students were suspended by school officials for trashing the bathroom while Sonnier was writing the threat.

Sonnier was booked for communicating of false information of a planned bombing on school property. Her bond was set a $50-000.

"We take all bomb threats seriously, the school was locked down for 2 -½ hours. This meant valued law enforcement resources were tied up, and the students were not inside the classroom receiving an education. My office will continue to investigate these threats and arrest anyone who threatens the safety of our kids and educators." -- St. Landry Parish Sheriff Bobby Guidroz
