OWI Checkpoint In Lafayette Friday Night

It's Mardi Gras season in Louisiana, and the weekend is right around the corner. That means folks all over Acadiana will be partying, kicking up their heels, and likely "throwing back a few."

If you'll be blowing off some steam this friday night, be advised the Lafayette PD will conduct an OWI checkpoint within the incorporated limits of Lafayette, between 9pm & 3am. They'll be looking for drivers impaired by excessive consumption of alcohol and or other intoxicants. Louisiana has enacted some of the toughest OWI laws in the country over the past few years, and the Lafayette Police department says drivers under the influence will be treated with zero tolerance.
