Oversized Load Being Moved Through Lafayette Today – Expect Traffic Delays

Troopers with Louisiana State Police Troop I, with the assistance of the Lafayette Police Department and the Lafayette Sheriff’s Office, will be escorting an oversized load into Lafayette on May 7, 2013. Troopers will escort the oversized load from the I-49 southbound frontage road near LA Highway 182 and will travel the following route beginning at 9 AM:

I-49 Southbound Frontage Road to LA Highway 182

 LA Highway 182 South to LA Highway 723 (Renaud Drive)

 LA Highway 723 (Renaud Drive) to Ambassador Caffery Parkway

 Ambassador Caffery Parkway to US Highway 167 (Johnston Street)

 US Highway 167 (Johnston Street) to LA Highway 733 (E. Broussard Road)

 The escort will conclude at the Vermilion River on LA Highway 733.

This escort is expected to arrive in the Lafayette City Limits area at about 10:00 a.m.  Due to the height of the load, it is anticipated to take several hours to complete the move.  Drivers traveling along the above listed route should expect traffic delays.  Troopers encourage drivers to utilize an alternate route.
