For my wedding bouquet, I wanted gardenias, but the florist talked me out of it. She said they wouldn't hold up and that orchids would be a better choice. I agreed and they held up beautifully in my bouquet and in my hair. It was a great day. I guess that's why I still love orchids. Despite my love for them,  I have never been able to grow an orchid plant successfully. But I know where I can pick up some tips! The Acadian Orchid Society invites you to enjoy beautiful orchid exhibits in the Ira Nelson Horticulture Center located at 2206 Johnston Street, in Lafayette.  Orchids come in thousands of varieties and colors, from the tiniest flower to tall spikes covered with huge blooms, so there is something for everyone. Visit the show and sale 'Jewels of the Swamp' from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, June 23 and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, June 24. Admission is free. For more information, call (337) 322-8323.
