In the roughly nine months since he was named CEO of OneAcadiana, Troy Wayman has delivered guidance and more importantly hope to a weary business community. In the depths oil and gas downturn in Acadiana, Wayman's message has been positive; often focusing on diversification and growth in our own backyard. In recent interviews on KPEL's Acadiana's Morning News, Wayman has talked about the importance of shovel-ready projects and maximizing the I-10 and I-49 corridor for the future.

Today, we talked about the impact of LAGCO moving the 2019 expo to New Orleans. Is it an indicator of our area's economy as a whole. Wayman says no. Instead, he has told businesses to take their reasons for leaving for what they are. New Orleans is better for them right now, but efforts will be made to get it back in the future.

It's not a sign of the economy in Lafayette being bad or the oil and gas economy being bad necessarily. It's just a sign of the times. We had that conference for 30 years.
