I went to a high school reunion recently and took a picture of an object that brought back many memories.

It's the intercom.  No big deal, right?  But at Henry High School, that intercom was a pretty big deal:  Announcing "club schedule", winners of competitions, calling for people to report to the office, even something as simple as the Pledge of Allegiance each morning, that intercom kept us connected.

The anticipation would build each time the intercom would "buzz" in the classroom, each of us wondering if we were getting checked out early, if we had to report to the gym for a function, or if any of us had to report to the "office" (which would almost always cause murmurs in the room!).

Our Henry High School no longer stands, having fallen victim to the wrath of Hurricane Rita.  The gymnasium/home economics building, along with the agriculture building, is still standing, and that is where we met a few weeks ago for the reunion.  Not a class reunion, mind you, but ANYONE who had EVER attended the school in Henry was invited.

It was nice to see the faces of those who attended.  It was also nice to see that intercom, which helped conjure the faces of those who couldn't make it.
