NOAA, ‘Hurricane Hunters’ May Soon Be Using Drones
Drones have been in the news a lot lately. Their military use has been a subject of controversy. An online shopping site says they're exploring the feasibility of using them to make deliveries. KATC reports, NOAA may soon be using drones to study hurricanes. Military aircraft have flown into the eyes of multiple hurricanes over the years. If drones use prove practical, the risk to humans will be dramatically reduced. Federal funding in the wake of Hurricane Sandy is making the research possible. NOAA researchers plan to test several drones this hurricane season, which officially begins on June 1st.
