Not one single person showed up during early voting in Lafayette Parish to vote either way on a proposed hotel tax in Youngsville.

This Saturday, October 19, voters in Youngsville will be asked whether or not they want to approve an up to 4 percent tax for hotels that might be developed in Youngsville.

Lafayette Parish Registrar of Voters Charlene Menard says no one turned up between October 5th and 12th to cast an early ballot on the issue.

Menard says that's the first time in more than 20 years that no one showed up to cast an early vote.

Youngsville Mayor Wilson Viator says it could be because that's the only issue on the ballot or that people didn't want to make the trip from Youngsville to Layette to vote on just one issue.
