IMPERIAL, Calif. (AP) — A Marine Corps spokesman says no one was injured when a jet crashed in a residential area in a Southern California desert community.

Despite the jet smashing into at least one house and setting at least two on fire in a row of tightly spaced homes in Imperial on Wednesday.

The spokesman says the pilot ejected safely and was taken to a hospital only for evaluation.

The roof of the house that took the brunt of the crash was gone, but the walls were still standing.
