There has been quite the uproar from the state of Louisiana over the missed pass interference call from Sunday's NFC Championship Game between the New Orleans Saints and Los Angeles Rams.

On Tuesday, it's being reported that attorneys in New Orleans and Lafayette are filing a lawsuit against the NFL wanting the Commissioner Roger Goodell to intervene in order to enforce the league rule that would allow a replay of the final two minutes of the game.

Travis Mackel, an investigative reporter for WDSU in New Orleans was first to have the story:

Here is attorney Frank D'Amico's reasoning for filing the lawsuit along with a court date that has been set:

You can tell Mr. D'Amico is very passionate on this issue as most of Louisiana is but he's technically not correct when he says we've never seen sportsbooks give back money before. In fact, one sportsbook in Vegas refunded non-U.S. customers who bet on the Green Packers when the team was hosed on the infamous "Fail-Mary" play in which the replacement officials botched a call the resulted in the Packers losing the game.

Here is what the rules state that would allow Roger Goodell to make this injustice right,

Rule 17, Section 2, Article 1:

“The Commissioner has the sole authority to investigate and take appropriate disciplinary and/or corrective measures if any club action, non-participant interference, or calamity occurs in an NFL game which he deems so extraordinarily unfair or outside the accepted tactics encountered in professional football that such action has a major effect on the result of the game.”

Rule 17, Section 2, Article 3:

“The Commissioner’s powers under this Section 2 include the imposition of monetary fines and draft-choice forfeitures, suspension of persons involved in unfair acts, and, if appropriate, the reversal of a game’s result or the rescheduling of a game, either from the beginning or from the point at which the extraordinary act occurred.”

In addition, two other attorneys from Simon Law Offices in Lafayette have also crafted a letter Monday that was sent to the Commissioner, which calls for him to enforce Rule 17. The joint statement from the attorneys reads as followed, "At present, a large asterisk sits next to the title NFC champions. Allowing the status quo to stand is a 'black eye' on the history and integrity of the game which you have been entrusted to preserve and protect."

All in all, this is what the lawsuit is filing for:

It's not likely but if it were to ever happen it would be one helluva story and historical event.
