The Louisiana Superdome has hosted six Super Bowls (Yes, I still call it Dat.) The crescent City's bid for a 7th has fallen short.

New Orleans is an ideal location for such an event. The big easy boasts some of the country's finest restaurants, plenty of hotel accommodations and a year round party atmosphere. Nfl.com reports, Super Bowl LII has been awarded to Minneapolis. New Orleans came in second. Minneapolis previously host Super Bowl XXVI in the Metrodome.  Super Bowl LII will be played in a new billion dollar stadium in 2018. Nearly $500 million in public money will be spent toward the stadium and infrastructure upgrades. The new stadium is scheduled to open in 2016.
