A funeral Mass and burial will take place on Thursday, October 6 for retired New Orleans Archbishop Philip Hannan, who died last week at the age of 98. The Mass will be held at St. Louis Cathedral in the city's French Quarter, where the Archbishop's body will be laid to rest beneath the floor of the Cathedral's altar.

Victoria Reggie Kennedy is expected to attend. Hannan delivered the eulogy at services for both President John F. Kennedy, Senator Robert Kennedy and Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis.

This was the scene yesterday as the cortege paraded from Notre Dame Seminary to St. Louis Cathedral, down Carrollton Avenue to Canal Street to the French Quarter, with St. Augustine's legendary Marching 100 leading the mourners.

Is there another place in the world where a religious leader's funeral procession includes a high school marching band playing  the Jackson 5 hit 'Never Can Say Goodbye' ?
