The ground breaking for the new library in Lafayette Parish was held yesterday.

The East Regional Library will serve the Youngsville, Broussard and surrounding communities.

The project construction began back on September 27th, and the facility is expected to open in about 15 months.

The East Regional Library will offer a children's area, a separate area for teens, public computers, meeting rooms and more.

Library System Director Sona Dombourian says the new branch is built in such a manner that it would be easy to make additions in the upcoming years as demands warrant.
