Job Posting Title: Clinical Documentation Improvement Specialist
Job Summary: The Clinical Documentation Improvement Specialist has an important role that affects revenue and quality of patient care by educating providers and internal teams on documentation data and systems, coding, and billing requirements.
Responsibilities:
•To advise and educate Emergency/Hospital Medicine providers on documentation/coding requirements
•To counsel providers identified as outliers via face to face interaction, phone, web-based, and/or email, meeting minimum number of contacts per week as coordinated by Director of Documentation Assurance
•To advise and educate internal Operations teams on documentation/coding requirements via phone, webinar, and/or in person
•Participate in provider Electronic Medical Record (EMR) training and provide feedback/clarification on documentation/coding and workflow concepts
•Analyze coding and billing data to identify documentation and RVU outliers at the facility and provider level in order to deliver additional documentation/coding education
•Educate and counsel providers on how to resolve external and internal chart deficiencies
•Assist providers and chart acquisition team with chart flow process issues
•Educate and give feedback to all new providers on documentation performance within the first month of service
•Participate in standing provider meetings to highlight documentation/coding initiatives
•To participate in company-wide initiatives related to clinical documentation as identified by Chief of Clinical Operations Performance and Clinical Documentation Advisor
•Collaborate with Data and Performance Analysts on provider feedback
•To function as a training resource during EMR upgrades via onsite or web-based
•To advise Coders on EMR function and documentation scenarios
•To provide information and feedback for Work Order meetings with internal Operations teams
•To conduct Bi-monthly reviews and analysis for the following:◦Unbillable Visits
◦Clinical Data Feeds
◦New Facility Starts
◦EMR Transitions

•To collect NP/PA Attestation Examples as needed for new facilities and EMR transitions
•To present onsite or web-based PQRS documentation training to providers as needed
•To provide support on any ad hoc departmental projects

•Healthcare Up to 2 years
