Nearly 700 Pounds Of Marijuana Seized Near Breaux Bridge

Louisiana State Police seized nearly 700 pounds of marijuana early Monday morning.

Troopers with Troop I stopped a 2012 Dodge van at approximately 5:30 am, near Breaux Bridge, for a traffic violation. Officers were granted  permission to search the vehicle and found 691.6 pounds of marijuana. The driver, 38-year-old Pedro Matamoros of Brownsville, TX, was cited for improper lane use, and arrested for possession with the intent to distribute marijuana. Matamoros has been booked into the St. Martin Parish Jail. The marijuana has an estimated street value in excess of one million dollars.
