LSU cornerback Kristian Fulton will have to sit out 2018, the NCAA says.

Fulton, who was suspended for two years by the NCAA for cheating on a drug test, had his appeal denied by the organization today, in a story chronicled by Ross Dellinger on si.com.

Fulton admitted to cheating on the test because he thought he was being tested for recreational drugs, when, in effect, the test was for performance enhancing drugs.

Ironically, Fulton did submit his own urine for the test after being caught and tested negative for performance enhancers.  A test for recreational drugs found a small sample of THC.

Don Jackson, Fulton's attorney says they will apply for a waiver.

Fulton's two year suspension has six more months to go, meaning he would miss the 2018 season.  He can be reinstated after the ban is lifted and will have two years of eligibility.

Fulton has been tested by LSU more than 30 times since the suspension was handed out.  He has tested positive for THC one time back in April of this year.  He remains on scholarship and can attend workouts and team meetings.
