National Pancake Day is March 3.

Pancake Day is a tradition that dates back several centuries to when the English prepared for fasting during Lent. Strict rules prohibited the eating of all dairy products during Lent, so pancakes were made to use up the supply of eggs, milk, butter and other dairy products…hence the name Pancake Tuesday, or Shrove Tuesday.

IHOP® Restaurants nationwide are celebrating IHOP Restaurants’ “Decade of Giving” on the tenth anniversary of National Pancake Day, when the family-friendly restaurant will offer each guest a free short stack of its famous buttermilk pancakes in an effort to raise $3.5 million for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals programs nationwide.

On National Pancake Day, IHOP Restaurants guests are encouraged to make a voluntary donation to Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals in exchange for a free short stack of buttermilk pancakes. IHOP restaurants hope to raise $3.5 million this year, which would bring the total raised to nearly $20 million for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals and other local charities in the ten years since the program’s inception.

You can help fund the cause by visiting IHOP in Lafayette on Johnston Street or on the Northside, in Carencro.
