LAPEER, Mich. (AP) — Prosecutors say a couple whose two dogs fatally mauled a 46-year-old jogger on a rural Michigan road are facing a court hearing on murder charges.

The Flint Journal reports that Lapeer County Prosecutor Tim Turkelson issued warrants Thursday against 45-year-old Sebastiano Quagliata and 44-year-old Valbona Lucaj. They're charged with second-degree murder and possessing a dangerous animal causing death.

Their arraignment is scheduled today in Lapeer District Court.

Craig Sytsma was attacked by the two cane corsos July 23 in Metamora Township, 45 miles northwest of Detroit.

The Detroit Free Press reports that federal authorities say the couple are Albanians living in the U.S. illegally and were facing deportation.
