Multiple sources, including CBS News and WAFB, have identified Montrell Jackson as one of the officers shot and killed in Baton Rouge.

While we don't have many details on Jackson at the moment, many on social media have shared heartfelt messages and tributes about the officer and his work in the community.

But the best description of the type of officer Jackson was may have been his own words in a Facebook update reportedly posted a week ago.

Here we have an officer who not only understood the frustration of those who were upset with police, but offered love and prayer to anyone who needed it in addition to serving his community as an officer of the law.

Another officer by the name of Matthew Gerald, 41, has also been identified as one of the officers killed in the Sunday morning shooting.

Their lives were taken in a senseless tragedy that is still under investigation, but sources have identified a 29-year-old Kansas City, MO man by the name of Gavin Long as the person responsible for this attack on police.
