A Mississippi sportswriter who angered citizens of Lafayette, and surrounding areas with his comments about the Hub City, and its inhabitants has lost his job.  Matthew Stevens tweeted that the Columbus Commercial Dispatch fired him after comments he made on Bulldog Sport Radio last week. The Mississippi St. Bulldogs were eliminated from the Lafayette regional by the Ragin' Cajuns last weekend. The voice of the Cajuns, ESPN 1420's Jay Walker took the high road, inviting Stevens to be his guest for a Ragin' Cajun football weekend. The Advocate reports Stevens has tweeted he was let go from the Dispatch despite his profuse apologies.
"Unfortunately, I was terminated from The Commercial Dispatch. I accept this as a consequence for my comments & I’ll always be remorseful."   - Matthew Stevens
