A mobile home fire claimed the lives of 24 cats in Canton, Ohio, but one kitten and its mother survived.

According to Cleveland's Newsnet 5, firefighters deemed access to the home limited due to 'hoarding - like conditions.' The cause of the fire was deemed to be electrical, and a dead cat was found near wiring in the home.

The kitten's small size is credited with saving its life, and it has been reunited with its mother, which also survived the blaze. 'Probably being so small, his mother probably protected him but he got lucky,' the county's dog warden reported. 'While holding him I've noticed little extra toes on his front. So he's pretty unique little guy. He definitely has a will to survive.'
